It has been a couple of days ever since I got addicted to Electronic Books or EBooks and it's a little disturbing since it really took much of my time- in at least everything. I've read EBooks like Harry Potter, Narnia, The Son of Neptune and The Safe-Keeper's Secret, a couple of months ago, on my personal computer but it never occurred to me to download another set of EBooks that did not come from any renowned author. This so-called addiction of mine started when my friends made a huge talk about wattpad stories like "She's Dating A Gangster," "Diary ng Panget," "Secretly Married" and the list goes on and on. It had gotten me a little bit curious so I asked one of them to send, through bluetooth, some teen fiction stories on my phone. I started reading it the day after and luckily it was a school-and-study-free day so I was able to.. umm... concentrate? I started reading the stories "Diary ng Panget"- a love story between a handsome guy and a not-so-attractive girl, and "That Girl." I was so into it that I tried searching for certain websites that could satisfy my reading desires and viola~ I saw www.wattpad.com. Well, it's a website filled with stories of different genres created and written by teenagers just like me. It's fun especially when you're bored but I warn you- it's addictive. Out of nowhere, my mom asked me if we could watch some movie together- so I immediately said yes. We ate Takoyaki before we went inside the cinema- we'll be watching the Avangers. Takoyaki is a special Japanese ball that is filled with vegetables like cabbage and carrots among others. I picked a mix of sweet and hot sauce to go with it but I just felt the hotness in it. Good thing my mom bought some drinks- i thought my mouth would blow up. Anyways, after watching the movie, we went inside the Department Store and I took her to the ' Shoes' Section to show her those Pink shoes I've been wishing for. We went browsing for a while then she told me that she'd go buy it for me. i was so happy after getting my hands on those pair of heels. I thanked God because He used my mom as an instrument to get that Oh-so-Sweet Material.. I'll post a picture tomorrow because I didn't bring my camera. :].. The
existence of language is essential to mankind for it serves as a medium of communication
and, a source of survival for the majority. In the Philippines, both the
Filipino and English language are used as media of instruction in public and
private schools, government agencies and, local and national corporations,
among others. The English language has played a substantial role in the lives
of the Filipinos, but its partial abandonment would not cost us that much.
Our
dependence to English proficiency might actually be the cause of our country’s
underdevelopment- and that is more expensive than not being an expert in the English
language. Majority of our countrymen advocates the use of English as an
exclusive medium of instruction in our local schools, which serves as an
advantage to schooled Filipinos. But let us take a closer look at our
neighboring country, Thailand- whose people are not as adept as Filipinos in
terms of speaking in English. They may seem uncompetitive in call-center
English but Thailand had surpassed the Philippines in every area of
development. The locals of Thailand are not known English speakers yet they are
better at promoting their country’s tourism than us, Filipinos. Moreover, they
don’t need to send tens of thousands of their countrymen in a foreign country
to keep their economy stable.
Did you know why the Philippines is still located at the bottom of the hierarchy? It’s
because we don’t understand one another. Perhaps the 1987 Bilingual Policy in
Education has its drawbacks. The said policy aims to improve the use of
Filipino and English by teaching and using both languages in all levels as
media of instruction. However, we neither cultivated nor promoted, to its
maximum level, the use of both languages. In fact, the continuing pre-dominance
of English for teaching has produced a labor force that is barely literate in
English or Filipino, and that this constitutes mediocrity in the workplace. It
is not anymore a surprise that foreign investors set their production
facilities in other countries that may have poorer English skills than we do
but, by far, surpass us with technological developments and labor productivity.
Furthermore, it confuses me how our Philippine presidents, and our government,
expect to gather the entire nation to work towards unity when they are speaking
in a foreign language that only an educated elite can fully decipher when
majority of the Filipinos are not that familiar with the language. We cannot
work towards unity when we don’t know what the other party is saying. I am not
saying that the use and practice of the English language must be abolished
because I, as a student, still acknowledge its importance. But what is more
significant than the ability to speak the English language or communicate with
foreigners is our capacity to innovate and grasp abstract ideas, and the
ability to unite towards common goals. These qualities can be acquired more
efficiently and effectively if it is taught in a language that everyone can
naturally understand- like the language a person grew up with. As our former
President Joseph Estrada, with his carabao English, once reminded us that the
Japanese and many other developed nations have the difficulty in speaking the
English language but that was never a hindrance to their development. The
Japanese built their economies on the ability to make things that other nations
want- to spark new ideas, invent products, and develop systems to manufacture
them, rather than serving foreigners. The Philippines’ educational system need
to teach the students more than a foreign language- they must teach them how to
think critically.

Every Thursday and Friday, youngsters from all over the city gather to praise and worship God through a fun-filled event called Lifemixx. It's where teenagers from all walks of life (regardless of their beliefs and religion) gather to honor God and make disciples. Yesterday, like any other event in the church, was no ordinary day. We've tackled about Worship and Work - lead by Kuya Jano. For everybody's convenience, we'll define both. Worship is delineated as someone or something that takes most of your time, effort and consciousness. Work, on the other hand, is an activity that is set to accomplish something.
THE WORDColossians 3:23-24
New International Version (NIV)
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
THE MESSAGE
In Colossians 3:23-24, it says there that we must work with all our hearts, work for God and not for men and work because we know we'll receive a reward from our Father. Sometimes, we work and sometimes, we rant but most of the time, we do both. However, the word of God says that we must work joyfully and pleasingly- with no hard feelings. What would you feel when your teammates work but they don't do it excellently? Horrible, right? Well, think about what God feels when you work for Him but you feel burdensome? Try to reflect. There are also times when we work joyfully and pleasingly not to gain God's praise but to gain that of the world's. A man's praise is deceiving but God's praise is genuine. Always remember that. Lastly, work because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord- His kingdom. Apart from that, we must also strive for excellence and rebel against low expectations since our God is an excellent God. Sometimes, people rely on grace alone thinking that God would still favor them if they do things unfavorably- like passing a school project the day after the deadline. But grace is our ally- it helps us more if we put in more effort.
REFLECTION
I've realized that I should not settle for less. Well, people expect me to do things at the minimum but I should challenge myself to always give my best shot. I'll strive harder to gain higher grades and to manage my time wisely. With God, I know I can refresh and improve things. And, I'll continue to do those things that honors my Father.

It's summer and I've got nothing else to do that's why I created yet another blog. I've stopped blogging when I got into college since the latter needs more time and effort. But nonetheless, I do admit that I've missed blogging so much. So, what are you gonna expect? Well, more fun things and tries. It would also be an online notebook that would be filled with my life's depressing events and joyful memories. Feel free to add me and oh, update me too :D Oh,call me Lollii Pii or Lollii or Pii. Whatever suits you best. Thank You :D A random post from a random-minded writer

There are a lot of crappy things running inside my mind – that oozing desire to write down another breathtaking piece of affinity and abhorrence, of the dreadful truth behind politics and perhaps, something about my likes- to at least give everyone a portion of me. However, I ended up writing about how I had a tough time choosing a particular theme. I was thinking on writing a piece which talks about the struggles of couples who are eagerly striving to catch up with their happy-never..oops, I mean, happy-EVER-after. Honestly, I already had the characters made up, and the lead protagonists were supposed to be Josh and Antonette (I didn’t know where on earth I picked those names). The only problem I had until now, is that stupid plot. I just don’t want a story enough to be buried in the pit of mediocrity. I wanted thrill. I wanted fun. I wanted more. That was why I ended up with nothing. Another idea popped up - just like how a zombie would rose from its tombstone. Politics was what my mind was whispering to me (I didn’t know human minds can even whisper..) I was thinking of addressing some issues concerning bureaucracy and the flaws and faults of the Philippine government and several local and public agencies. But, I was too lazy enumerating all its flaws.. I would belong gone even before I could finish the list. I hate politics. I abhor its dirty games. But what I hate the most is not writing something about it – due to exhaustion. I stood frozen for a moment… thinking about the horror I had last night while I was crouching down reading a book about an old crappy murder- a though then flickered into my mind (a good sign that my brain is still working). Books! How about writing an article about books? I fancy them so much and I would love it more if I could share it to my dear readers. The whole article would depict how much I adore reading books, the variety of books that I read, my favorite author, and how I would love it if my readers would read this readable article. But there’s nothing more to it. Just me being a bookworm. Just that. It’s been hours already and I’m still holding this blue inkless pen (no wonder I haven’t written any thing). I wish that I would be able to come up with a magnificent topic not just how I struggle to create one because I abhor writing about not having to write any thing. Am I even making any sense?
